Duran Duran

Here's the story...sorta.

Okay, this is a shortened version of the formation of the band. Blah. Blah. Blah. Duran Duran pretty much originted in a club in Birmingham called, The Rum Runner. The band consisted of Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, and Roger Taylor. They had two other band members, but they had left. So, this left our heros short of a guitarist and singer. Therefore, they trio placed an ad in the Melody Maker for a guitarist. As if by magic, Andrew Taylor answered the call, and came for an audition. Hence, Andy joined the troop. Of course, the boys couldn't tell Andy that there was no singer. So they did what they could do, lied. They told him the singer was on holiday and that they were going to try some new ones out. (Lame boys...Lame. But I still luvz ya.) A barmaid at the Rum Runner, saw that our heros were in desperate need of assistance and told them of her boyfriend, a singer named Simon LeBon. She suggested he come down and audition. So being the smart lad that he is, he listened to the woman, and went. Of course, he made a dramatic entrace. I mean, come on...you can't get more dramatic than pink leopard skin tights. lol! That is a classic, I wish I was there to witness. So now the band lineup was complete; Simon, Nick, John, Andy, and Roger. With a lineup like this, how can a record company resist? They had looks, charm, talent. Well, they couldn't! Duran Duran signed with EMI records in Janurary of 1981. Following this fateful event, the band released their debut album, Duran Duran. This album steadily climed the European charts and they became superstars in their homeland. Even with all of this, they had not achieved American success. It wasn't until their second album Rio, that they had achieved success in America. For this record they went to Shri Lanka and filmed many of their most popular videos, such as Rio, Save a Prayer, and Hungry Like the Wolf. The band marched on with their success, they released Seven and The Ragged Tiger, and their success climbed with it. THe hysteria became, close to what Beatlemania was. Hence, the term 'Fab Five'. In 1985, Roger Taylor and Andy Taylor left the band, Yes, a dark time in Duran's history. I rather not head into it, maybe someother time.

Now our heros has banded together once again to make new songs, and all is right with the world agan. The darkness is gone. :)

Okay, this bio was written very quickly. So yes, I am fully aware that I have skipped over many things. I will eventually make it a bit more factual. Til then, oh well. I like it anyway!

I haven't the words to say how much I love this band. But, I'll take a stab at it anyway. lol!

Duran Duran, they have been a great inspiration to me. They are talented musicians who have powerful songs. I believe that their is a Duran Duran song that can relate to a person's every mood. Not many bands can do something like this. They capture the imaginations, feelings, and minds of everyone that listens to their music. This is the main reason why I love them so much.

They did their own thing and did their music their way. This is a big inspiration to me, they were confident in what they were doing and in what they were creating. THey had faith in it, and knew it could work if they tried hard enough. So, basically they kinda prove to me that anything can happen as long as you don't loose hope and work for it.

So, in other words, Duran Duran....thanks for everything.
